There are images so deeply embedded in our collective memory that they blur all linguistic, generational, and geographical boundaries. This year, legendary duos come to life on the facades and fences of Staro Zhelezare—a story of love that grabbed headlines, transformed pop culture, and ignited the imagination of the masses.
This year, the most famous cinematic and historical archetypes of love from
the 20th and 21st centuries, which shaped the imagination of the modern world,
come alive on the walls of Staro Zhelezare. Unforgettable frames, symbols, and
historical icons like lovers from Gone with the Wind, Casablanca, Tsar Boris III and Tsaritsa
Giovanna of Italy, Bulgrian scenes from iconic movies like The Goat Horn, and,
of course Titanic, 300....
This year's festival is a unique, artistic dialogue between Western pop
culture, icons of the cultural revolution, and a deep Slavic sentiment. In a
space where political discussions have previously dominated the murals, we now
stand face-to-face with the universal language of tenderness. We paint love
that each of us recognizes instantly. This element, still untamed by humanity,
is the glue of our shared existence, the absence of which causes so much
devastation. It is an essential component on a global, human scale, as well as
a prerequisite for the fulfillment and happiness of every individual. The
streets of the village will be taken over by couples who defined the past
century and modern times.
